Kathmandu, March 30: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has urged subordinate bodies under the Ministry to facilitate towards achieving the goals of Digital Nepal Framework. Speaking at a thematic committee meeting organised by the Ministry here today, the Minister spoke the need of access of entire local levels to electricity, telephone and internet connectivity to implement the concept of Digital Nepal Framework. He stressed, the bodies functioning under the Ministry are responsible for building a foundation towards that end. Minister Gurung called for centering in the extension of Government Integrated Office Management System (GIOMS), controlling the advertisement leakage, digitalizing the postal services and maintaining uniformity on the official websites of government entities. Highlighting the need of launching a literacy campaign regarding the Civic Apps, he urged the bodies concerned to focus on expansion of use and access of the broadband services. He also added that collection of tax by the local levels as well for the installation of a mobile tower has caused additional economic burdens on infrastructure development. The Communications and Information Technology Minister also stressed the need of upgrading the quality of broadband services in eight districts affected by the earthquake. He also advised the province governments to prove their relevancy and presence through deliveries. Secretary at the Ministry, Radhika Aryal, stressed the need of consulting with province and local levels while formulating policies and laws. "It is necessary to ensure quality in sector plans, policies and programmes with maintaining uniformity among them." She also advised for addressing the issues concerning the communications and information technology while determining annual policies and prorammmes at the local level. On the occasion, Ministry's Joint Secretary Koshhari Niraula said the Ministry programmes have been implemented in coordination with the local, province and federal levels.
